Hi, My name is John and I am a Wetshaver .... Oh ... it's not THAT kind of meeting place? Well, maybe it SHOULD be a 12-Step Program...
I moved to wetshaving because after 40 years of shaving with an electric, I was tired of both razorburn and the cost of replacing the electric razors every few years. And after trying cartridges and then looking at the price of cartridges, I thought "old-fashioned" might be both better and cheaper. Wetshaving was going to save me money. That was 2015. Since then, I have fallen down almost every available rabbit hole. I now own dozens and dozens of vintage DE, SE and injector razors, a good handful of modern DE and injector razors, a couple dozen modern and vintage brushes, enough blades to last 40 years, about 20 years worth of soaps and creams, the same in aftershave balms and splashes, a bunch of nifty old gadgets that people used to use to re-hone razor blades .... the list just goes on and on ...
I was on The Shaving Den from 2016 until it closed down 6 days ago. That place was NO help! Great people, a wonderful shaving school thread -- I learned to lather and shave there -- but chock FULL of enablers:
"Oh, this razor/blade/brush/soap/cream/aftershave is absolutely wonderful! You must try it!"
I trust this forum will be different and will be full of frugal believers in saving money by doing plain simple shaves. Yes????
