A RazoRock Recurve Dupe? The Shield Recurve Ti…

I just took delivery of the Shield Razors Recurve DE Razor in titanium, and the first thing that came to mind when looking at the head geometry was: is this a RazoRock Recurve-inspired design, or just another take on the same blade-clamping concept?

The razor itself looks very nicely finished. Lightweight, clean machining, attractive raw titanium look, and the stand completes the package beautifully. In fact, the stand deserves a mention of its own — it is far more impressive than I expected. It has a proper Art Deco / machined display-piece feel to it, matches the razor perfectly, and makes the whole set look much more premium than just a razor placed in a basic holder.

The geometry is what really caught my attention though — the curved head design, the way the blade seems to be tensioned, and the general idea of controlling blade flex all remind me strongly of the Recurve concept.

According to the specs, this one is around:

Blade gap: 1.15 mm
Blade exposure: +0.08 mm
Material: Titanium

Has anyone else tried the Shield Recurve Ti?
How close is it in actual shave feel to the RazoRock Recurve, and would you call it a clone, an homage, or simply another razor using the same general curved-head idea?

Mine just landed this morning in the USA (Miami). Should have it in a few days and will give my impressions. I do have the RR Recurve 1.20 gap and will compare the two. Shield razors are made very well.

However, gap and exposure and compareing it to the RR Recurve will be order number one. I had the .80 Recurve and thought it was great. Now I have the 1.20 and it's even better. Will see only by trying. I do love Shield razors.

I think you'll enjoy it if you love an efficient shave, for me that I shave every day it's a rough shave that surpassed my Lambda Ares V2 open Comb. Maybe it's just me and my skin though...

I know patience is a virtue, but when it comes to shaving gear that’s on its way, the sooner the better!

Got it this morning. Did an appreviated one pass and it compares to the RR Recurve 1.20. Fit and finish are outstanding. Weighs only 51 grams. I used a Bic chrome platinum blade which are very sharp.

Congrats—hope you enjoy many great shaves with it! The fit and finish look excellent.
How did it feel? As efficient and demanding as the Recurve 1.20, or a bit smoother with the sharp Bic blade?

It's hard to tell the difference between the Shield Recurve and RR RC 1.20 as the gap and exposure are very close. I am going to try the Shield RC in the RR reloader to see if it fits and works like the original. I am going to do a side by side shave using the same blade to be fair (BIC chrome platinum). Of course it will be my opinion.
