My personal shave diarie starts today, Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

But first, I want to explain my nickname. It started when I posted SOTD on Facebook, but the problem was that I felt very exposed. Since none of my friends on Facebook are interested in shaving, I moved my SODT posts to Instagram, and to remain somewhat anonymous, I needed a nickname. Instashaving was available, so that became my nickname on Instagram.

I'm not an influencer, everything I use is bought with my own money. The exception may be prizes from competitions.
I call myself an enthusiast; I spend far too much money on my shaving hobby. But I enjoy it, and photography is part of what makes this fun.

I usually have other projects going on, so I may be a little late in responding.

Barrister and Mann Hallows scent notes is: Black pepper, Cedar, Cocoa, Labdanum, Oakmoss and Vetiver.

Hallows opens with a blast of pepper and cocoa and quickly dries down to a green and woody blend of oakmoss, vetiver, and cedar. Lots of cedar.

This was an amazing shave with B&M Hallows. Tatara Amakuni is my favorite artisan blade razor, I like it best with a Schick Proline blade.

Barrister and Mann bringing Southern Witchcraft Samhain back.. from the dead. The scent of Southern Witchcraft Samhain in Barrister and Mann vegan base,
I love the scent, and I love Barrister and Mann’s bases. That said, I also loved Southern Witchcraft’s bases; I thought they were one of the better vegan bases. It’s a shame Southern Witchcraft was closed down.

Sunny Lane is a combination of sweet clover, bergamot, vetiver, and oakmoss. For me, this is a sweet citrus scent, and I really like it.

Paradigm Diamondback together with Bic Chrome Platinum was a very good combination. Of course, the soap also played a role in this experience.

Doppelgänger Continuum No. 4 is inspired by Gucci Pour Homme II.

This is a really pleasant scent, i dig it. PAA’s soaps are perfectly fine, but it’s PAA’s aftershaves that really appeal to me.

Nikon Z6 II with a Nikon Nikkor Z 50mm f/1.8 S lens. The light box is an inexpensive Godox LST80 with 3 LED strips. First, I post on Instagram (@Instashaving) where I add filters, then I download the photos using toolzu.com. To be honest, I don't really know what I'm doing. I wish I had more knowledge about photography and editing.

Dior Sauvage Elixir is actually a very nice scent, much better than the original Dior Sauvage

Lather Mafia Midnight is an oriental woody fragrance with notes of cardamom, nutmeg, jasmine, vanilla and amber. Inspired by Tom Ford Noir Extreme.

I have a sample of Tom Ford Noir Extreme, I just have to say that the scent of Lather Mafias Midnight is better than Tom Ford Noir Extreme. Of course, this is just my opinion, as I find Tom Ford Noir Extreme a little too strong.

Great shave, I love MacDuff’s shaving soaps. The Simpson 59 series is my favorite brushes from Simpson's Shaving. They have a knot size of 24 mm and a loft of 59 mm, which makes them very sloppy. With such high loft, they are similar to Plisson shaving brushes.

Barrister and Mann describes the scent of Plague like this:

I can easily imagine that the doctor’s office back in the days smell just like Plague. Did i like it, oh yes it`s a fun scent to use. And i really had a fun shave today, and I’m glad I have Plague in my den.

Today I used my Tatara Muramasa adjustable for the first time in over a year. Managed to cut myself on the cheek.Regardless, you can probably guess that it’s not my favorite razor, since I haven’t used it in over a year. So today I ordered an XL handle that is 10mm longer than the original and should give the razor better balance. I can definitely confirm that it is very top-heavy with the original handle. Time will tell…

The best way to describe Ariana & Evans Plum & Bliss scent is a mix of A&E Asian Plum and A&E Cannabliss Santal then you have an idea of how it smells. Of course, it’s not as simple as that, because Plum & Bliss is a bit sweeter and brighter. The «Cannabliss» and the woody notes ads som mysterious to the scent profile that makes it absolutely wonderful!

Scent notes: bergomat, Japanese Plum Blossom, Thai Benzoin, C*nnabis, Virginian Cedar, Pachouli, Australian Sandalwood, Agarwood
