Is the ATG Pass always necessary?

Well - whats your thought?

For me, it is a must to get a smooth finish. I find that without the ATG pass, I need to shave more often.

I never go ATG, if I do the ingrown hairs get out of control. I'm a two passes shaver normally. WTG and XTG, and I'm usually pretty darn close to BBS

However, If I eschew the ATG on my chin (when the goatee is absent) or my sideburn area, then 2 hours later I am scratchy.

I do four passes, with atg at the end. Otherwise it’s itchy later and feels like I didn’t shave

I do 2 passes, North-South,South-North,,with a clean up/touch ups at the end,..

For me, it’s 1 WTG 1 ATG maybe a few touch-ups if needed.
If I can’t get a close two pass shave from the razor, it’s not for me.
I also like having the option of a plus plate when I buy a modern razor I will always go for the plus plate.
I love efficient close shaving razors.

In do it P.R.N., a Medical TERM, MEANING: AS NECESSARY.

Think 30% of time ATG is Necessary for DFS, Almost BBS.

Surely on those trouble spots, like right on the corner of and under my jaw line. Why not a few more strokes to eventuate in a better shave and a nice sigh at the mirror.

I tried ATG first a couple of times.close shave but more irritation..I stick to what works for me as noted above..smooth consistant almost BBS shaves daily..

XTG and then ATG. My stubble goes from the center out and lies close to the skin. Without an ATG pass, I might as well not shave at all.

WTG then ATG with my Kamisori for a BBS, so I base all my DE and AC SE shaves on those two factors plus touch ups, if not it’s not an efficient razor IMHO.

Exactly the same here. No ATG pass? No proper shave. I am aware than for many people, things will be very different.

My head shave is against the grain. Squeaky clean every time.
