Vintage Old Spice~~Rubberset 400/3~~Wolfman WR2/Wizamet Polsilver~~Shulton Old Spice AS
Every time I shave with the vintage Old Spice soap, I am rewarded with lather as good as anything on today's market.
The Shulton AS is always a crowd-pleaser.

Mike's Barber Shop~~Simpson M7~~Detroit National Cut Co.~~Vintage Aqua Velva
For a while, I really embraced the Straight Razor culture, amassing more than I needed---including all kinds of honing gear.
What I discovered is, while I really like to use the straights, I wasn't particularly good at sharpening them. I am good at stropping them.

My favorite is this nondescript razor made by the Detroit National Cut. Co. It's fits like a glove.

Stirling Bonaparte (new 3017)~~Rubberset 400/3~~George Wostenholm Pipe Razor
OK, this is my next 3017 challenge.
(So far, nobody here on Shave Chat has stepped up to the 3017 plate...)

The Bonaparte is a VERY controversial scent. It's mos def® not for everyone.
There's 62 grams of product.

I am not guaranteeing that I will 3017 the after shave splash and the after shave balm.

Stirling Bonaparte~~Semogue SOC Boar~~1958 D3 Gillette Adjustable/Wizamet Polsilver
The Semogue ate up a whole lot of product and made some exquisite lather.
Fresh Wizamet Polsilver in the 1st production quarter of the Gillette Adjustable.
Set to the
max (9)
Outstanding shave.

Stirling Bonaparte~~TSN X LE~~Gillette New LC/Wizamet Polsilver
The Stirling soap, itself, is not proving to be a difficult 3017...however, the scent is going to grow old quickly.

Stirling Bonaparte~~Wald S1~~Gillette New LC/Wizamet Polsilver
Found a scent
description directly from Rod at Stirling:
"It's a blend of Petitgrain, lavender, bergamot, Rosemary, thyme orange, lime, lemon, tangerine, and grapefruit."
He also posted this on The Shaving Cadre in November of 2018:

"Against my better judgement, I agreed to do Bonaparte for the first time in over three years for Black Friday this year. I had my first shave with it today. I love it. It's always been one of my favorite scents.

That said, you will likely hate it. Don't buy it. Seriously, unless you've tried it before and know you love it, steer clear. The reason we stopped making it was the emails and requests for refunds we got over the scent. Don't buy it. Just don't.

That said, if you we...re one of those who asked us to bring it back, thanks and I hope you still enjoy it. I'm glad to finally be able to replace my soap and aftershave in the scent. If you haven't tried it before and you do end up buying it, you forfeit all rights to email me to angrily tell me that it smells like your grandmother's farts or like fruity toejam. It's your fault for buying it.

Do not buy it."

Stirling Bonaparte~~Varlet Mega HD~~Gillette New LC/Wizamet Polsilver

Missed shaving yesterday, Too busy shoveling. Had to shovel again this morning, but not as terrible.
The Varlet picked up a lot of product, but as most uber-dense knots, either fails to release the lather evenly, or splats it out all at once, because you have to put pressure on the knot to get suds out. Flow-through wins by a country mile.

Stirling Bonaparte~~Simpson CH Synthetic Badger~~Gillette NEW LC/Wizamet Polsilver

Way behind in posting, but I continue to make good progress with the Stirling.
The scent grows on you and because the longevity is fleeting, I have yet to offend anyone. 🤭

Stirling Bonaparte~~Simpson CH3~~Gillette #44 RFB~~Vintage Drakkar Noir (Cosmair)
Still committed to the 3017, albeit by my lonesome here at Shave Chat...hint, hint.

The satisfying feeling of knocking out a soap is so rare in our wet-shaving community. You don't know what you're missing.

If you have never experienced the OG Drakkar Noir, you have really missed one of the great fragrances of the 20th Century.
This is a Stank amongst Stanks.
