I've noticed that scooping and lathering shave soap is much easier with new well hydrated soft soap then it is with a soap that is several years old and has lost most of its moisture content. So I decided I would try to rehydrate the soap. I did this by adding distilled water to the tub of soap to fully submerge the soap. I then put the lid on and let it set. For a severely dehydrated soap you might have to repeat this process a couple of times. Usually within 24 hours the soap has absorbed all of the water and has expanded to it's former size to fill the tub. You know the soap is completely rehydrated when it stops absorbing the water easily.
