Tabac Tuesday's Cold Water Shave

Cold Water Rinse
Tabac Shave Soap
Jayaruh #188 Synthetic
Leaf Thorn
Gillette Silver Blue Half Blade

The Tabac Shave Soap face-lathered well with Jayaruh #188 Synthetic Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Leaf Thorn Razor and the Gillette Silver Blue Half Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Tabac After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Brush: Chisel & Hound, Gateway, V19 Fanchurian
Software: Ariana and Evans & The Razor Company Dualis
Razor: Karve Overlander
Blade: Barbero Platinum (1)

Wow, what a fantastic scent Dualis is. Peter has been killing it with these recent TRC collaborations and this may very well be my favorite of the bunch, which is not a knock on the others as I thoroughly enjoy them all. The label graphics are truly remarkable. Carlos @s_0_g_6 really did a fantastic job on them, especially this one. If there’s a restock of this, I can’t recommend it enough. I also grabbed some new blades in my TRC order: Barbero Platinum. They are made in the same factory as my favorite Tatra Platinums in the Czech Republic. I’ll have to use them more but they feel really nice after one shave. The Overlander will give a great shave with many blades though for me so I’ll have to test them with other razors as well. That’s all for now. Have a wonderful day folks.97AEF89B-EE33-4CF3-8038-A7B0E677DFFF.jpg

Hi Friends,

Here my Shave of the Day (14.01.2026)

Photoroom_20260113_202406.jpeg
Razor: PAA Prismatic // Blade: Gillette Platinum // Soap: Mike ´s Pine & Cedarwood // Brush: Maggard´s Marble // Aftershave: ALPA Lesana

A fine shave today. 3 gentle and smooth passes. The razor has a special angle where it shaves and if you don ´t hold that angle, it will not shave as efficient as when you have the correct angle. That said, my angle was not correct here and there so i was not 100% BBS. It was a DFS, but not a BBS shave.

The soap is about 13 to 15 years old and has lost quite a bit of it´s scent strengh. But now it is hard as a rock. I bloomed it and swirled around 30 seconds on the soap. What a fantastic lather. Mike ´s soaps are SO SO good. I would call this lather „legendary“. Skinfeel and everything around it…near perfection.

The Aftershave had absolutely no stinging to it, it is just a Menthol Bomb with notes of Pine and some resinous notes. Can be well paired with the soap.

A 9 out of 10

Have a great time, enjoy your shaves and stay safe and healthy.

Greetings
Thorsten

I don’t know what to say about this shave. Before The Shaving Den closed its doors I thought I’d try two of their soaps. This one is scented like Floid Blue and smells really good. However, like the 2X Iced Lavender I tried the other day it seems to lather very thin. I gave up halfway through and lathered with the MSC Black Tie. Sadly, I think the soaps will get tossed. But, I do have a bottle of their menthol to add to other soaps. Fingers crossed as I love a good freeze :love:

SOTD: 01/14/2026

Razor: Tatara Masamune Dark
Blade: Tatara Stainless, 1st use
Brush: Tatara Masamune Boar Dark
Bowl: Tatara Black Bowl Bowl
Soap: WestMan Rastilho Croap
Aftershave: WestMan Rastilho Aftershave
Additional Care: Osma Alum
Additional Care: Thayers Facial Toner: Rose Petal

Today’s had me grab for the Tatara Masamune in dark and WestMan to complete the Portugal circle!

Tatara is one of my favorite razor makers. And the Masamune is such a smooth shaver. I don’t mind the mildness. I still get a bbs 3 pass shave and smoothness that is hard to come by with more aggression. And Tatara’s dark series are so pretty with the dimpling in their handles. I love this razor!

WestMan is always awesome! Performance and scent wise. Residual slickness for days which is most important to me and my technique. And the scent on Rastilho is absolutely a banger. Pomegranate and firewood! Man I smell good!

What an awesome shave was had today! Amazing I can surely say! Have a great back half of the week everyone!

Cologne/EDP;
Moisturiser;
Attar (Perfume Oil);
Shave;
Broke out the NOS Culmak No 84 Made in England brush, lathered up well, less backbone than my 2 band badgers or badger/boar mixed, but I found it very pleasant and will certainly use again. Overall a pleasant shave and the brush, well apart from the now numerous synthetics etc, no real difference to today’s offerings, YMMV.
