Lather Catcher Sunday's Cold Water Shave

Cold Water Rinse
Mitchell's Wool Fat Shave Soap
Jayaruh #224 Synthetic
Superior Lather Catcher
Personna GEM SS PTFE Blade
Cold Water Rinse
Humphrey's Witch Hazel
Aqua Velva Ice Blue

The Mitchell's Wool Fat Shave Soap face-lathered well with Jayaruh #224 Synthetic Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Superior Lather Catcher razor and the Personna GEM SS PTFE Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Humphrey's Witch Hazel and Aqua Velva Ice Blue. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

How is The Vanguard to you? I have all three plates.

I love it. The vintage aesthetic is really nice, especially the diamond shaped post holes. I only have the mild plate and as a daily shaver for my beard growth, that is plenty efficient and comfortable. It’s a great value too, especially considering the impeccable polish and finish.

Shave Report - Sunday, February 15, 2026

Razor: Rocnel 2026 MC Series (Steel)

Blade: Gillette Minora (1x)

Brush: AKA Brushworx Candy Floss

Shave Soap: Nomad Theory Paris

Aftershave: Nomad Theory Paris

Other Care: Thayer’s Witch Hazel / Rose Petal

Scores:

Efficiency: 10/10

Comfort: 10/10

Ease of Use: 10/10

Consistency: 10/10

Result: BBS

Today’s shave had me grab my new Rocnel MC Series that I picked up from The Razor Company and Nomad Theory’s Paris which I also grabbed at TRC. In fact everything in this shave is from The Razor Company as is most of my den!

The Rocnel is all that is cracked up to be and more! I followed what Carlos told me he had done and started at one and went up as I shaved. I got to four while still maintaining a super smooth shave! An easy BBS three pass shave! The weight on this is no joke and feels quite lovely in the hand. Balance is perfect. This will definitely feature prominently in the rotation!

Nomad Theory is just fantastic stuff! It performs so well! Slickness is on steroids and it’s so cushiony! And Paris is such a softly sweet scent! It is a perfect romantic Valentine’s Day scent!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine’s Day! Have a great week!

Very pleasant 2 pass n touch up shave today for nice BBS, the razor was superb smooth and efficient and paired with the SV, no issues, not a lot on Forums re the Carbon but excluding my Iwasaki Kamisori, it could/may be by No 1 razor? Mmh not sure if there’s such a thing though?
