After reading @Hosay18 s extraordinary review of the Filomatic razor I had to have one. This is actually the second razor I had to have after reading a review of his. So I jumped online and began a search. To my surprise I found one relatively quickly on eBay for a reasonable price. I promptly purchased it and patiently waited it's arrival. When it arrived I looked it over quickly and was impressed by the looks and the action of the push button activated spring loaded hinged top cap. A very cool design and pretty unique. It also has a square handle which is uncommon but cool and comfortable in hand. When I loaded a shark blade in it to shave the other day I noticed that the blade guard on one side was bent. ( Second Picture ) Bummer. But I didn't have time to work on straighting it and decided it shouldn't be detrimental to the shave, so I proceeded predominantly using the good side of the razor. I did try the bent side a little as well and didn't really notice much difference. Overall it was a pretty good shave. Not incredible yet more than adequate. I've since spent a little time working on straightening the guard bar and it's in pretty good shape now. I may work on it a little more later though. (Third picture ) When I went to photograph the after straightening shots I noticed something on the top cap I hadn't previously seen. Someone had engraved initials and numbers in the top cap. ( Fourth and Fifth pictures ) They are faint but visible. I'm not sure if the scratches on the top cap were part of an attempt to remove the etching or not. I may sand that all out and polish it up later, however I may just leave it, they are part of the razors history after all. Either way this is a very interesting razor and it a good shaver that is fun to use. This was my first use of Leather and Tobacco by Subtle Art Soap Co. They have become my favorite soap brand and this soap lives up to what I expected. It's a great scent and the performance of there soaps has been fantastic.
