What's in your glass tonight...?

Beautiful Glen Scotia single cask. 😍
I’ve been leaning towards adding more single casks into the collection myself…

This Westland hand-fill was right in my wheelhouse. Scottish peated barley distillate matured in a 2nd-fill Garryana oak cask. They are doing releases with local Washington state peat but they still have quite a bit of Bairds heavily peated juice in their stocks.

In fact, Saturday I’m going to their Peat week tasting, where they are releasing a Scottish peat vs Washington peat whisky.

Should be a blast.

Now that was a fun evening… Westland does a great job with engagement and their whisky. Local Washington peat was an 8 year in first fill and the Scottish peated was 6 years in 3 different casks - Washington wine, a light toast/ heavy char, and heavy char light toast. I leaned towards the Scottish peat which was different from what I thought going in.

4 drink tickets to get neat pours or mixed drinks with the peated whiskies as the base for $10. Fun evening.., hope the post makes sense. 😜

Took the opportunity to visit the Teeling distillery last month. I hadn’t had a Teeling prior, and came away a fan.

They had a pot still whiskey matured in Patagonia Beechwood that I really enjoyed. The story was that it was going to be in their Wonders of Wood series but too much leaked. 😜

Their standard pot still is a lovely drop! I can see why they'd have such a problem with ullage! 😁

Bainbridge Island Distillery
Two Islands
Local to me up here near Seattle… they take their Battle Point straight wheat whiskey and finish in small Mizunara casks.
