Saturday's Cold Water Shave

Cold Water Rinse
Col. Conk Amber Shave Soap.
Jayaruh #119 Synthetic
Gillette NEW Short Comb
Gillette Silver Blue
Cold Water Rinse
Humphrey's Witch Hazel
Aqua Velva Musk

The Col. Conk Amber Shave Soap was face-lathered well with Jayaruh #119 Synthetic Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gillette NEW Short Comb Razor and the Gillette Silver Blue Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Humphrey's Witch Hazel and Aqua Velva Musk After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

One of my favorite injectors, the Schick C3. When I first got it I thought it shaved like a brick and almost put it back up for sale. That would have been a mistake as it now gives me one of the most trouble-free and smoothest shaves in my den. :p

Hot water preparation
MSC Black Tie Shave Soap
Savile Row 3824 Silvertip Badger
Schick C3
Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel

Razor: Smart-Helix Apollo Light
Blade: Wizamet Super Iridium, 1st use
Brush: Chisel & Hound Cosmo-1 V28 Fanchurian Badger
Bowl: Symmetrical Pottery Starry Night Dottie Bowl Bowl
Soap: BBS Soap Co. Donna Di Napoli Croap
Aftershave: BBS Soap Co. Donna Di Napoli Aftershave
Additional Care: Osma Alum
Additional Care: Thayers Facial Toner: Rose Petal

Today I went to another of my top artisans with BBS Soaps and to the Apollo Light again.

This is my second shave in a row with the Apollo Light. Owning enough razors for us all I try and not use the same razor twice in a row but am evaluating this razor and whether to move it out of the den. Today’s shave was a stunner. I went with the mild plate again with only a days growth but switched blades to the Wizamet. Both shaves were amazing but the Wizamet performed slightly better for me. I have really enjoyed this razor so far.

BBS Soaps is one of my top artisans and not being able to get their new releases due to tariffs hurt a lot. So when I could get some I had Thanos send out a few sets to me, this was before TRC restocked, Donna being one. She is incredible. Sweet, warm and enveloping it is inspired by Toscana’s Bianco Latte. Wow if you’re a gourmand guy this is for you! And the Cronos 2.1 tallow base is hard to beat. Thick, rich lather with slickness for three shaves! Amazing stuff!

What an awesome shave! I hope you all have a great weekend and amazing shaves!

Hi Friends,

here my Shave of the Day (04.01.2026)

IMG_8916.jpeg
Razor: Maxwell June EX // Blade: Gillette Platinum // Soap: MdC Original // Brush: Mühle SFT 23mm // Aftershave: Nivea Hydro Care Balm

Hello friends,

First of all, happy new year to you all 😃

Today marks the first shave of the still young new year.

I chose the above-mentioned products. As it turned out, this was a more than good decision.

The scent of the soap brings you straight to Provence in France. It's a very relaxing scent that invites you to unwind and relax.

The Mühle SFT had no trouble whipping up a creamy, thick lather. The glide and skin care were once again sensational.

So, once the soap was on my face, the Maxwell June could begin its work. Together with the Gillette Platinum, we got started.

The Maxwell June worked very gently and thoroughly. However, the blade has a different sound than the GBE. The GBE sounded more "ceramic," while the Platinum sounded brighter and not as "heavy." This blade worked very well in the razor. Smooth, gentle and thoroughly.

Nevertheless, after 2.5 extremely enjoyable passes, there was nothing left. BBS at its finest.

I'm not actually a Nivea fan, but I can't find anything negative to say about this one. It has a sporty, fresh scent, a good consistency, and absorbs immediately without leaving a sticky film on the skin.

The aloe vera it contains provides excellent after-shave care. For me, it's an absolutely top product.

10 out of 10

Have a great time, enjoy your shaves and stay safe and healthy.

Greetings
Thorsten

  • Aftershave : Clubman Pinaud Virgin Island Bay Rum. (USA)

Hi all,
Nice Sunday afternoon shave today with the Yaqi Ghost 90 this is one of those duel comb DE's that gives you both a OC and SB in one.
It's an efficient smooth razor for me as long as I have not gone to long between shaves which sometimes happens with my working life.
The Voskhod was not the best blade choice something like a wizamet/narcet or feather works better in this razor in my opinion.
Still a descent 2 pass shave with a few touch-ups.

The Areffa soap is top notch made by a small but growing soap artisan from Ukraine the scent is bright and uplifting filled my small bathroom Lovely.
This was sent to my by one of our fellow members many thanks to him.

The splash is a well know budget bay rum I like it but the wife hate's it (you can't have every thing can you.)
I'm on my way down the bay rum rabbit hole a big fan.

1 pass WTG 1 pass ATG with a few touch-ups done. ( I rarely do a XTG pass for me if I can't get a BBS with 2 passes and maybe a few touch-ups I will move the razor on).
No nicks No worries.
Have a great next shave.
Cheers.
